IndiGo’s Ahmedabad to Diu flight aborted before take-off as pilots detect ‘technical snag’

A report said the flight was aborted after one of the engines caught fire following which the pilots sent a ‘Mayday’ call to air traffic controller.
Domestic airline IndiGo on July 23, 2025 said its flight from Ahmedabad to Diu was aborted just before take-off after a technical snag indication was noticed, the airline said in a statement.
The passengers and the crew members of the flight were all safe, the statement said.
“A technical snag indication was noticed just before take-off on IndiGo flight 6E7966 [ VT-IYA IndiGo ATR 72-600 AIRCRAFT] operating from Ahmedabad to Diu on 23 July 2025. Following the standard operating procedure, the pilots informed the authorities and returned the aircraft to bay. The aircraft will undergo necessary checks and maintenance before resuming operations,” an IndiGo spokesperson said.

The airline’s flight from Ahmedabad was scheduled to depart at 11:15 am from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on July 23. According to an airport official, the IndiGo flight to Diu has been cancelled due to some technical issues.
Sources in the airline told PTI the pilots took the decision to abort the take-off due to some technical reasons. “When the aircraft began its take-off roll, the pilots took a decision to abort the take-off due to some technical reasons. The flight stands cancelled. All the 50-odd passengers and crew members are safe,”
